Verb is a collaborative initiative to encourage and promote a positive change within society. Activist at its core, Verb is about creating, evolving and empowering. This year’s selected Verb artists consist of 12 prominent illustrators and lowbrow South African artists and includes Kronk, Theory One, Matt Edwards, Louis Minaar, Black Koki, 351073, Wesley van Eeden, Jordan Metcalf, Christian Mugnai, Bruce Mackay, Alice Edy and Bison.
The first 6 artist-series boards and t-shirts to be released features work from Kronk, Alice Edy, Wesley van Eeden, Jordan Metcalf, Bruce Mackay and Black Koki. Apart from the range being entirely focused on the artist’s work, each skateboard also features an artist-selected, 3-ply-colour-up in the lamination, which is a first for skateboarding in South Africa.
Verb have also produced a limited edition run of 10 skateboard artworks per artist. These boards feature special black ply laminations and a top pass print, signed and hand-numbered by the artist. Limited Verb artist-series serigraphs in editions of 20 have also been produced.
Art is a medium that has no borders or boundaries, and by working together we can spread the message of change far and wide.
