Verb are proud to present the limited edition Mystery Machine hand screen-printed cruiserboard.

In the past, screen-printing was the painstaking process used for applying the graphics onto skateboard decks. This process, an art form in itself, reached its crowning point in the late ’80s, but has long since been replaced by the far less artistic digital sublimation processes. Needless to say the art and originality of each skateboard deck has sadly been lost in modern times and there are fewer than a handful of companies left in the world who still uphold the tradition and skill of hand screen-printed skateboards.

In their ongoing strive to push creativity and activism, Verb have again teamed up with the genius team at I Love Screen-printing in Cape Town to create a limited edition release of 75 cruiserboards. The boards feature artwork by Cape Town designer, illustrator, photographer and musician, Michael Tymbios.

The limited edition Verb Mystery Machine Cruisers are now available from all good skate stores nationwide.

MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE (MSML) is a project started by Verb as a way of connecting creative people who are excited about making their art and supporting a good cause at the same time. It makes sense that a brand like Verb would be inspired by music; the innate and shared passion that is found so strongly in so many people – not just musicians. Verb is, after all, about creativity, with skateboarding as a metaphor for that.

The MSML series pairs up (mostly local) talent – musicians, artists, designers and illustrators, to create a limited edition series of skateboards, t-shirts and tote-bags. A portion of the money raised from the sale of the products will be donated to the Sign Language Education and Development (SLED); the idea being, as Verb explain, “We can now use the music that we love so much to aid those who aren’t able to hear it.”

This December the Journey Through South Africa Tour will be going through Cape Town, Durban and Joburg distributing new and used skate stuff to kids who can’t afford their own. The tour features German skateboarders Louis Taubert and Niklas Speer von Cappein as well as local ripper Justus Kotze.

“Louis Taubert is undoubtedly one of the best skaters in Germany this year and could win almost every contest in which he participated. And he has carved out on the thick banger bus tour and was generally represented with the best footage ever. In the next time it could be somewhat quiet at Louis, as he sets out to explore South Africa for six months. But of course he does not disappear without saying goodbye to yet befitting. Here is his farewell clip from Cologne Cape is 686 plus a few words to his adopted country.”

In January we will be running a full Tour Diary on www.revolution-daily.com where you can see who got what and how the goodness was shared across South Africa.
